Hill-tribe schooling gets hindered by household sanitation in Northern Thailand

Buddharaksa Foundation runs an English program at the Border Patrol Police schools in Chiangrai, Phayao, and Nan Provinces, Northern Thailand. One of our teachers observes a number of his kindergarten students skipping the class from time to time. He later finds out that diarrhea is the most common cause of absenteeism.

Problem statement: Is household sanitation the only cause of school absenteeism or there are other key factors? How can we solve absenteeism for good?
